ZeN Rising

experience stillness.

A weekend home with a loft, in A Note of ZeN, by the Narmada canal near Ahmedabad.

The idea

nature is
within us.

The calm we drive out of the city to find was never out there. It is ours. ZeN Rising is a home made to give it room.

A tall room for the light to move through. Materials you can touch: lime, terracotta, walnut, stone. A loft to climb into at the end of the day. Little to own, and nothing to prove.

Moods

Its interiors let nature into the room, in more than one mood.

  • Concrete and Lightlight on bare walls
  • Earth and Sunearth, colour and garden
  • Timber Calmthe warmth of timber
  • Sage and Stonestone and quiet
The home

a weekend home
with a loft.

Two gables. One tall room. A stair that seems to float up the wall to a bedroom under the roof.

The temple

at the end of
the long water.

Walk the length of the pool at dusk and the temple waits at its end, tiered roofs dark against the sky. At night it glows from within.
